Biomaster helps limit spread of micro-organisms in ductwork systems

Microorganisms are unavoidably present in the air we breathe and can be the cause of unwanted odours, stains and infectious diseases.

With this in mind, architects, engineers and specifiers are increasingly concerned with the quality of air that is distributed through building services HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) ductwork.

Biomaster has partnered Kingspan Insulation, the global leader in high performance pre-insulated HVAC ductwork systems, to help fight contamination in these systems more effectively.

The Kingspan PalDuct Eco System is an advanced and innovative pre-insulated rectangular HVAC ductwork system.

Kingspan PalDuct Eco panels, used in the fabrication of the Kingspan PalDuct Eco System, comprise a fibre-free high performance rigid thermoset polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation core, faced on one side with an embossed aluminium foil and the other with a smooth aluminium foil.

Both facings are coated with Biomaster antibacterial technology. The panels can be joined together to create a pre-insulated HVAC ductwork system that can resist the spread of surface bacteria.

Biomaster inhibits the growth of surface bacteria 24/7 and is effective for the lifetime of the product.

The system has been designed for use within building services and HVAC applications and is suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects in the residential, commercial, public and light industrial and leisure sectors.

PalDuct Eco is especially suitable for food preparation areas, clinics, schools and hospitals. In fact the system is suitable for any location where it is important to limit the growth of bacteria. This may be especially relevant in high humidity areas where bacteria can multiply rapidly.

The Kingspan PalDuct Eco System is lightweight and therefore very easy to install. It is also very easy to clean and maintain, which ensures that a consistent quality of air can be upheld inside the ductwork.
