Biomaster partner Biodose is taking its ground-breaking medication management system to Birmingham’s NEC on 25 and 26 September for Pharmacy Show 2016, the UK’s biggest national conference and exhibition for community pharmacy professionals.
Biodose is the only monitored dosage system on the market to accommodate liquid and solid medication and is used by thousands of care home managers across the country because it cuts the risks that come with managing complex medication regimes.
Even with experienced, well-trained staff on board, it’s hard to completely eliminate medication errors and possible risk to residents.
The network of Biodose pharmacies use the web based pharmacy software system to create patient specific Biodose tray seals, MAR and PIC sheets detailing patient medication. The dedicated and trained pharmacy teams fill the patient specific medication into the Biodose pods, according to patients’ prescribed dosages.
The pharmacist checks for accuracy before the Biodose trays are sealed, ready for delivery. Patient photos ID’s on each tray along with individually printed patient and drug names on every single pod make it easy to identify the right medication during the round.
The pre-portioned pod also makes it easy to administer to the patient accurately, with no need to juggle multiple drug packs or get sticky fingers measuring liquid meds from a bottle.
For extra protection, every Biodose medication tray is protected with Biomaster antibacterial technology to help prevent cross-contamination.
Biomaster is proven effective against common healthcare acquired infections including MRSA and works 24/7 for the lifetime of the tray.
Biodose trays with Biomaster also reduce infection risk by eliminating the need to repeatedly open and close the same medicine bottle.
In a survey of UK pharmacies Biodose was described as “better” or “much better’ than any other medication management system available on the market.
